None, really. DVD burners are now every bit as fast as DVD readers, and straight CD burners are only like 10% faster in real world usage on CD media than DVD drives are (exception is a few old and rare 100x drives). Just a non-issue, because if drives spun any faster than they do now, the media would shatter. Seriously.. As for quality, there's so much rebadging, it's hard to say. Plextor used to be the best, but then they stopped making their own drives! I guess people seem to have better luck with Japanese-branded ones, especially Pioneers, but no guarantees.
