Whats the most memory that I can get for a 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Macbook?

I have a Macbook with the following specs:

Processor 2 GHz Intel core 2 Duo
Memory 1 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM

I'm looking to upgrade my RAM, and wanted to know whats the most that I could get in my machine. And what brand is the best to go with?

If it is "mid 2007" or earlier model apple said the maximum was 2GB (2x1GB) but it turned out you could fit up to 4GB (2x2GB) with the caveat that only 3. GB would be usable (apple reccomends using matched pairs for improved performance though unmatched ram will work)

The "late 2007" and later models can use a full 4GB ( 2x2GB ). Apple says this is the maximum but given apples past statements it wouldn't surprise me if it supported more.

As for brand it shouldn't matter too much though I would suggest going for one of the established brands.
